Looking For Songs/Sounds To Edit With

Image
Unfortunately the owners of the song, Spirits In The Material World, did not get back to me. Now I have to find royalty free music to use in my film. I started looking at my favorite website, YouTube's Audio Library. I found many potential candidates to use for the scene where Blair is walking to Avery's room with her headphones in. But I found two that I really enjoyed. They are called "Circle Dance" and "You Should". I was looking for an upbeat, electronic vibe song because that how I want Blair's music personality to portray her as. I found them by imputing filters like: Funky, Dance & Electronic, and Pop. I put them both on my editing software and played it with the film to see which one I liked best. I decided I like "You Should" better because it has more of a mysterious sound to it which fits the genre more. I had to adjust the volume to where it was loud when Blair was walking but to quiet it down so that the audience could hear th

Starting To Edit

Image
I started editing today. First, I had to send all of my videos to my laptop. Then from my downloads on my computer, I had to drop the files into iMovie. Next, I organized my clips in chronological order. I had to look back at my storyboard to remember the order. I noticed some of my clips were missing. I looked on my boyfriends camera roll and they were there. So, I had to spend more time getting those clips on my computer as well. Some clips were flipped horizontally instead of vertically so I just changed it on iMovie without dealing with the hassle of doing it on my phone then re-sending it. It took me about 10-15 minutes to organize everything. After that, I cut the clips. I watched every clip and cut out the parts I didn't need. Then I muted some of the clips that don't require diegetic sound. Then for the clip of the detective talking and the family listening I added the sound of the detective with the family listening. After that I did more muting and changing sounds. I

Another Day Of Filming

Image
Today on March 17, I continued filming. I started with getting everything together and cleaning up the set. I had to bring the chair that Avery sits in back in the room. I also had to clean the desk and put my props on it. Before my other actors came I filmed the scenes I didn’t do last time that only has the killer and Avery. I first filmed the shot of the candle getting blown out. Then I filmed the killer walking into the room. Then I filmed the killer stabbing with the knife. After that I filmed Avery looking at the candle then looking behind her. Next I filmed her getting stabbed and dying. I had to continuously look at notes that I took to make sure every scene was filmed properly, for example the angles they were filmed at. Then I rested/waited for an hour for my other actors to show up. Finally they showed up. I had to replace the actor that played Avery's dad but he was also good. Because of this I had to re-film the scene where the parents hear the scream and get up from

Things That Went Wrong

Image
I did not have a good weekend. I was supposed to continue or finish filming. This did not happen. I was planning on filming on Sunday. I had to go to my grandparents house on Saturday and a little bit on Sunday. I was counting on my actors being available. However, they were not. My actors that play Avery's parents were supposed to come around 3-4 on Sunday. Last minute they canceled on me. The actor that plays Avery's dad was the root to the problem because he got in trouble by his parents. The actress that plays Avery's mom got called to work all of a sudden. The news made me very sad and stressed because I wanted to get the filming done before spring break so I could start editing. Now I am probably going to have to start over. I wish I finished filming the day I started but things went wrong that day too. The candle I was using was not cooperating. Also, the actress that was supposed to play Avery's sister didn't want to film because she looked bad and didn'

Choosing My Music

Image
Today on March 9 I decided to research the music I will use in my film. A couple weeks ago I was on a roadtrip and this song came on and I really enjoyed and I liked it on Spotify. Today I was trying to get some inspiration for music on my Spotify and I found the song, Spirits In The Material World by The Police and thought it would go nicely with my film. I realized I needed to get permission to use the song so I had to do some research as to how. I found out that they belong to Universal Music Group and I saw that I could send them a License Quote Request. I filled out the form and sent it. Hopefully I will hear back soon. As a backup plan I decided to look into royalty-free music. I did some research on this a while ago when I made videos for fun. However I forgot how to do it. All I remembered is that YouTube had that type of music. So, I tried searching up YouTube royalty-free music. I found the website and it's called Audio Library. I did not find any music that I liked. How

First Day Filming

Image
I started filming part of my film on March 5. I was at my boyfriends house and I was informing him about my project. I figured that day I would only film the scenes with just Avery and the killer. To my surprise, my friends Isabela and Christian came over and I saw an opportunity. I asked them if they wanted to help me with my project then and they agreed. First I had to tell them what they had to do. So, I read my storyboard to them. I also used my storyboard as a refresher of what I had to film and how. I used Christian to film and I told him how to do it because he had previous experience with film making. We ended up doing many scenes. We started with doing the scenes of Avery writing in her diary. Then we did the scenes of the killer walking. Unfortunately we didn't get the scene of the killer actually killing because the candle wasn't working. When that happened, we skipped to the part where the detective knocks on the door and the Dad answers. After that, I filmed the sc
