Finalizing My Film

Image
I have finally finished. I am so happy. I've watched it over and over again. I think of myself as a perfectionist. I think my film is as perfect as it can be. There are some flaws but it's too late now to fix them. I showed my sister and she pointed out some things. However, I couldn't really fix them because it would require me to re-film. They weren't that noticeable though. This has been a long, yet fun journey. But it also caused me some stressed. I'm just glad it's basically over. Although now I'm nervous about my CCR. But hopefully it will be fine. I did some last editing today to make it better. I made the lettering bold on my titles. I also played with the sound/volume to make it smoother and not too loud. I also tried to find a sound effect of blowing out a candle. But I had no luck. I think it's fine silent because it adds to the suspense. It has been an amazing and educational ride. I think I am going to start filming and editing more because

Changes From Film Review

Today I got to editing again. I made some changes that my friends dad advised me to do. First I started with making the clips he found too light, darker. Then because he didn't like the second audio I chose I just continued the one I used on the title scene. Before this, I got to film more things. I filmed a scene where Avery walks in and sits down. Then one where all the family gathers at Avery's room where they heard a scream. With that I did a scene from the back and the front. I did this to get more angles. Then I filmed a close up of the mom's phone calling 911. Finally, I filmed the shot of Avery's dad shaking the detectives hand. I hope this met my friends dad's expectations. I put the clips in my editing software in their right places. I watched it over and they make the storyline smoother. But I have to match audios and visuals up again... That is annoying. I added a transition from the clip where the mom calls 911 to the detective knocking, it looks way b

Last Minute Filming

Today I filmed some extra stuff for the film and some things I just forgot to film. I forgot to film the part where Avery's mother, father, and brother run to the scream that they heard. So, I filmed that. Also, I forgot to film the bit where Avery's mom calls 911. So I filmed that with a close up of her calling. Previously when I was editing I noticed my film was running short. To fix this, I filmed a part where Avery's dad shakes hands with the detective. I think I will end the film with that clip. Another way to fix this is I filmed a part where Avery walks and sits down at her desk and starts writing. Hopefully this will make my film the right size. The filming process was fairly easy. I had to make sure the set was the same. To do this I cleaned the room we filmed in. It was, however, a struggle to get my actors together. Whenever Sebastian wasn't busy Izzy was. And vice versa. I had to create a group chat so they they could situate when they were both not busy. T

Film Review

Image
Today I showed my friends dad my film so far. I am not completely finished but it's enough to critique. I first showed him the whole thing. Then I went portion by portion to see if he thought I should change anything. He said he liked the first music audio I used. Then he noticed some of my clips in the beginning were too light. So, I looked at all the filters I could apply to make it look more cohesive and saw one called vignette. Then he saw my title scene. He did not like the font, he said and I quote, "It looks like it came from a soap opera." This is not what I was going for. So, I let him look at all the fonts on iMovie. He didn't find any others that he liked so he told me to keep the one I have now. I suggested that I could go on a different website to look at other fonts but he said its fine. After that he said he didn't like the audio I used in the second half. He said it sounded too comical and if they lived in a "trap house". I found that fu

Looking For Songs/Sounds To Edit With

Unfortunately the owners of the song, Spirits In The Material World, did not get back to me. Now I have to find royalty free music to use in my film. I started looking at my favorite website, YouTube's Audio Library. I found many potential candidates to use for the scene where Blair is walking to Avery's room with her headphones in. But I found two that I really enjoyed. They are called "Circle Dance" and "You Should". I was looking for an upbeat, electronic vibe song because that how I want Blair's music personality to portray her as. I found them by imputing filters like: Funky, Dance & Electronic, and Pop. I put them both on my editing software and played it with the film to see which one I liked best. I decided I like "You Should" better because it has more of a mysterious sound to it which fits the genre more. I had to adjust the volume to where it was loud when Blair was walking but to quiet it down so that the audience could hear th
