Usually in Apple or Air Pod commercials music is involved. So, in our commercial we used music. The use of walking also takes place during the commercial. Again, we made sure the actor was walking. Apple advertisements typically take place outside, so my group and I made sure to film outside. Medium shots are used in many Apple advertisements, we used the same technique. However, in Apple commercials, dancing (with talented dancers) is involved most of the time, we don't have a professional dancer in our groups so we could not incorporate that aspect. Our product represents wealth, something many people do not have. You get what you pay for, the new Air Pod Pro's have a lot of new high-tech qualities and in return they are quite pricey. So, only people who have spare money can afford them.
2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
Our product engages with audiences through the use of music. We used a song that is pretty popular. Since it's a known song the audience may sing along when viewing the advertisement. The commercial also shows how to use the product. If the audience has an iPhone they may be interested in how easy the product pairs with an iPhone. The commercial's target audience is younger people because it appeals to the new topics that are in. It's also trendy to have an apple product. Older people may not understand it as well as younger people, but if they have an apple product it can still appeal to them. This would be distributed as a real media text because it can be broadcasted as an advertisement anywhere, from television commercials to ad's you see on games or You Tube videos.
3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
My production skills developed over time throughout the project. I became to better understand how the production process is like and the many factors that are a part of the process. In the beginning I learned how to create a storyboard. I also learned how to communicate with my peers if I needed help or if I wanted to say input on anything: for example, how the commercial should go. My communication and teamwork skills improved as much as my production skills did. I learned how to film properly as well. I also learned the editing process and how to remove a watermark. It all became fairly easy to do once i got used to it.
4. How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware and online- in this project?
I integrated technologies like software and hardware throughout the whole project. To start, our commercial was about a technological device: the Air Pod Pro's. The Air Pod Pro's are the second type of earbuds that the brand Apple produced, following the Air Pods. Secondly, we used another Apple product, their smartphone, the iPhone to show the different things the Air Pod Pro's can do, for example: noise cancelation. Then, we also used an iPhone to actually record the film. After we were done filming, we used a laptop and iPad to edit the footage. We used the software iMovie to edit everything. We also used the software Kinemaster to do further editing that wasn't possible on iMovie (rewinding). This project took a lot of technology to make it come together as a matter of fact.
